Families seeking shelter in the Beaverton area should work with Mckinney-Vento to get into the Lighthouse (see below).
Families in Portland should call 503-760-6272 (ext.0) prior to 4pm for information about availability and locations in East Portland. All family shelters are overnight only - arrive at 7:30pm and leave at 7:30am. You do get a private room/space. It is not a congregate setting.
The Lighthouse is a short term, emergency shelter, for one family at a time. McKinney–Vento works with families in the Beaverton School district and sends them to the shelter when they need a place of respite as they wait to get into other programs or permanent housing.
This is made possible thanks to the vision and obedience of Nexus Church who had an empty house, saw the need, and took the steps to meet that need. Together we are helping people AND FAMILIES break the cycle of poverty and homelessness!
